My Sons
By
Anna L. Huff
I have a Marine, of which I
can boast.
To this young man, I drink a
toast.
I also have an Air Force
boy,
To me he is a pride and joy.
The Marine is both serious
and strong,
On him I’ve leaned, both
hard and long.
The Air Force lad is tall
and wiry,
Full of wit and very jolly.
I’m glad that I, between
these two,
Will never, ever, have to
choose.
They are my own two manly
ones,
To me they are the stars,
the moon and sun.
I’m sure they both will
always be,
Good soldiers, whether on
land or sea.
They’re proud of this old
U.S.A.,
And tho’ they’re many miles
away,
My heart is with them at all
times.
So I write to them these
lines—
Always be brave and strong
and true,
And God will always be with
you.
